俺のねーちゃん関西で国語の教師やってんだけど、先月新しい担任受け持ったんだ。4年生。
で、そこで「虎王人」って名前の男の子がいたんだと。仮に苗字は田中としとく。
流石に読めなくて、本人に聞いたんだ。

姉：ごめんなさい、田中君。下の名前を教えてくれる？
田中：…
姉：…？
田中：……れおと
姉：れおと君、ね。教えてくれてありがとう。

微妙な沈黙の後、聞き取るのがやっとな大きさでぼそっと教えてくれたって。

で、後日その母親が
「ウチの子供の名前が読めないのか！」「本人にわざわざ嫌みったらしく確認したのか！？」って。
子供に謝れってれおと君同席で校長室に乗りこんできた。
そりゃ読めないだろ…。校長も「いやまあ、大変個性的なお名前ですし…」
と当たり障りなく濁してたが姉がメモに「開闢」って書いて

姉：この言葉の読みと意味を御存じですか？
田中母：なんなのよ関係ないでしょ知らないわよそんなの！
姉：「かいびゃく」と読みます。物事の始まりを表します。ではこれは？
田中母：さっきから何なの！？
姉：「きょうじ」と読みます。プライドの事です。

姉：これら辞書に載ってる様な言葉でも、難読なものは沢山あります。
　　 しかし載ってるから意味も読みも調べられます。
　　ですが人それぞれである名前において、一般的ではない仮名をふって、読める読めないがありますか。
　　今はまだ良いですが、これから先、レオト君にとってこのやり取りは恐らくずっと続く事になります。
　　お母様がどれだけ立派な意味を名前に託されたとしても、それが人に伝わらなければ独り善がりに過ぎません。
　　私たち他人相手に限った話ではありませんよ、れおと君に対してもですよ。
　　こういった不便な思いをするのは彼本人です。本当に彼の事を考えて名前を決められたのですか？

大まかにこんな感じの事を言ったんだ。母親が怒り狂って「あんたねええ！！」と
姉に組み付こうとした時、それまで俯いて黙ってたれおと君が、

「いい加減にしてよ！俺が昨日言ったのはこういう事させる為じゃねえんだよ！
　先生だよ！？学校の、国語の先生でも俺の名前読めないんだよ！？
　そんな名前で、俺が今までどんな思いしてきたか、お母さん今まで一度でも聞いてくれた事あったかよ！？」

要は、姉が名前を尋ねた日の夜に、れおと君は母親にぽそっと「先生にも名前読まれなかった」
とこぼしたらしい。
本人は母親への皮肉と言うか反抗と言うか、名前に対する不満を表す意味で告げたらしいんだけど当の母親は「息子が名前を読んで貰えず落ち込んでいる！許せん！」となったらしい。
で、正しい意図も伝えられず勢いに押し切られたらしい。
今までも相当押さえつけられてたんだろうなあ。

母親はそれ以上は流石に何も言えなかったらしい。

何で突っかかるような真似したの？と姉に聞いたら、
名前を尋ねた時の反応で何となく、コンプレックスの様なものを感じたらしい。
で、それまでの担任や関わった教師にそれとなく聞いてみたら、本人は名前に苦痛を感じてるらしいと。
まだ10かそこらの子供にこんな辛い思いさせやがって！と親に対して憤懣やる方なかったんだと。

救われねえなあと思ったよ。

Alright, actually the above ensemble is one of the best ones from that section in which they paired Schiaparelli jackets with Prada shorts and skirts and shoes. The palm trees on each, along with the chandelier shoes from that wonderful spring collection that do seem rather like something Schiaparelli might wear, work really well together. Other than that I give it a solid B- overall. The concept of the exhibit works really well. However the video “conversation” is just bizarre and disruptive as it plays continually in nearly every room. The examples the curators have chosen absolutely do support their argument, and I got a kick out of seeing (for example) a pair of sandals from one of my all time favorite Prada collections- Spring 1997. But, it felt a bit poorly done. The McQueen exhibit was a better production, while this felt like the sad step-child of exhibits. If you already know the work of these two designers but just have a hankering to check out clothes you’ve not seen for a while, well then take the time to visit. Otherwise I’d say skip it and head to The Frick or something instead.
